Planning And Roadmap

The project objectives are the following:

  • Conceive and implement a microcredit program enabling Lokhim's villagers to voluntarily acquire, operate and maintain a biogas unit,
  • Supply the health post with needed basic medical products,
  • Confirm the self-sustained ("viral") structure of the project.

The project started with the expedition to Lokhim in March 2006 and will last for an initial period of 6 years. After 5 years, the first candidate families will have refunded their microcredit.

During this phase, the project zone of activity will be limited to Lokhim in wards 1, 2, 3 and 4 which are the only ones sufficiently low in altitude to use biogas.

The construction of new Biogas units will take place every year between september and november. An general project evaluation will be conducted in march every other year to assess the project status and decide of the next steps.
